KEY FACTS

An eye-catching example of the Volkswagen Beetle, which has been re-styled as a tribute to the cars used by the Swedish police in the 1960s and ’70s.
Powered by a 1.3-litre flat-four, coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox with synchromesh.
The car was delivered new to Östergötland, Sweden, in December 1959, and subsequently refurbished to police specification by a group of Motala-based enthusiasts.
It was displayed in the Motala Motor Museum for many years before being relocated to Schijndel, Netherlands.
The odometer indicates 37,916 km, though this is not warranted.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

This Beetle is finished in black and white, with white ‘Polis’ lettering, chrome body trims, an additional searchlight and sirens (not tested).
It rides on a set of 15-inch steel wheels, shod with Vredestein tyres.
Inside, it has grey fabric seats with vinyl outer panels and white piping, complemented by matching door card inserts.
Equipment includes manually operated windows, door card-mounted storage pockets, a Zeiss Ikon camera, and VDO dials.
Accompanying the vehicle are its latest inspection report, its Swedish registration documents, a black and white photograph of a genuine police Beetle, and a toy version of the car.
Please note: parts 1 and 2 of the Swedish registration certificate are present, but the number plates are not included.

CONDITION

The resprayed paintwork is in good condition, with minor blemishes on the chrome body trims, and at the base of the blue siren light.
Inside, there is wear in the footwells, and the seats, door card inserts, and sun visors are slightly discoloured, though the headlining has been refurbished and now presents very well.
There are no known mechanical or electrical faults.
