This 1971 AMC Javelin AMX is a rare example combining classic muscle car heritage with unique factory features. Originally delivered in Mustard Yellow, the car was later refinished in orange and features black leather upholstery. Under the hood sits the Z-code 401ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic Torqueflite transmission and a Twin-Grip limited-slip differential.

The car comes equipped with the Go Package, cowl-induction hood, rear spoiler, front disc brakes, power steering, center console, and an AM/FM radio. It rides on staggered 17″ Vision Dazzler alloy wheels fitted with 255/70 front and 345/40 rear tires. A set of 14″ slotted alloy wheels is included as well.

Previous restoration work included transmission overhaul, flushing of the cooling and fuel systems, carburetor cleaning, and replacement of the master cylinder. There are signs of rust below the windshield and rear window, and the vinyl roof cover shows peeling. Some trim pieces are missing, including the bumper guards, left-side drip rail molding, right-side mirror, and right upper quarter panel trim. The paintwork shows chips, cracks, and imperfections consistent with age.

Inside, the car features black leather front bucket seats and a rear bench, with engine-turned trim on the dashboard and door panels. The center console holds the horseshoe-style shifter, and additional interior details include tri-color AMX badging, a locking glove box, passenger grab handle, and push-button AM/FM radio. The windshield wiper motor and right-front lap belt buckle are missing, and the air conditioning system is nonfunctional. The front seat seams show some splitting.

Instrumentation includes a Rally-Pac cluster with a 140-mph speedometer, combination gauge, and 8k-rpm tachometer with inset clock. The five-digit odometer displays 19k miles, though the actual mileage is unknown.

The 401ci V8 engine, originally rated at 330 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, features a Motorcraft four-barrel carburetor and dual intake air cleaner. The exhaust system exits through side pipes without mufflers.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via the three-speed automatic transmission and Twin-Grip limited-slip differential.

Included with the car are spare wheels, removed trim pieces, spare badges, vintage photos, original dealer documents, a copy of the window sticker, manufacturer literature, and records covering service history and prior restoration expenses.

The trim tag decodes as follows:
• Body R011590 – Kenosha Lake Front assembly plant
• Model 7179-8 – 1971 AMC Javelin AMX two-door hardtop
• Trim 161L – Black leather upholstery
